Blooming With You: A Beautiful Adventure with AMA!!
If creation is a journey of self-healing, what unique landscapes did the Amas—who embarked on this path of recovery alongside the Taipei Women's Rescue Foundation (TWRF)—see along the way?

The exhibition Blooming With You: A Beautiful Adventure with AMA!! has officially opened at the AMA Museum (for Peace and Women's Human Rights Museum). Born from a desire to do a little more for the Amas, this special exhibition showcases the contents of the 16-year-long "Physical and Mental Care Workshops." This was an endeavor we began in 1996. Through art, drama, photography, yoga, conversation, support groups, and dream-realization projects, we supported the Amas both physically and mentally, allowing us to witness the abundant energy they demonstrated in the wake of their trauma.

This exhibition specifically focuses on a lesser-known duality of the Amas: on one hand, they stood fiercely alongside TWRF to demand fairness and justice; on the other hand, they were flesh-and-blood individuals facing their own trauma, possessing a warm yet vulnerable side. Through these artworks and activity records, we can see how the Amas released stress, shared their daily lives, and expressed their inner thoughts through creation. Later, using their imagination, they splashed their own life's colors across the canvas, soothing their once-wounded hearts through dialogue with themselves and others.

The artworks in the exhibition can be broadly divided into early and later stages. In the early days of the workshops, the Amas were somewhat reluctant to pick up a brush and felt lost when it came to drawing. The workshop facilitators guided them to mimic and use colors through dots, lines, and planes, encouraging them to voice their feelings as they painted.

As the workshops entered their middle and later stages, the artworks revealed the Amas becoming more at ease and capable of creating independently. Under the guidance of the facilitators, the Amas began to identify beautiful things within their abstract paintings, eloquently sharing the deep connections between their creations and their life experiences.
What exactly did the growth and transformation of the Amas look like? We now invite you to "walk together" with us on this wondrous adventure embarked upon by the Amas and the Foundation.
